Brian Huston, P.E.

Engineering Principal

Brian does this work because of the people who showed him what real engineering can be.

In high school, his teacher Tony didn’t just talk about science; he had students build working generators and rockets. Those hands-on projects convinced Brian that ideas only really matter when you can see them work in the real world.

Later, at URS Corp, his mentor Guy Lund led in a way that stuck: he gave Brian room to build his own models, take the time needed to solve hard problems, and always tie calculations back to physical outcomes. That season cemented Brian’s conviction that code and drawings are only successful when they become safe, tangible structures.

Brian has been involved with engineering since 2007. He is very interested in the concept of utilizing environmental elements to design more sustainable, durable buildings. He enjoys traveling to various hot springs in Colorado and wants to see them all.

Brian and Mary live in Colorado Springs with their five children. They have both spent the vast majority of their lives in Colorado, before and after meeting at CSU. They enjoy spending their time with their five kids and dozens of extended family members. Being near family is one of their greatest joys. They spend much of their time ferrying their children to guitar, theatre, dance and parkour.

Client Relations

Mary, Brian’s wife and business partner, has always been impressed by people like her teacher John Knuth, who made even difficult learning feel rewarding and fun by celebrating students and finding inventive ways to motivate them.

Those kinds of influences shape Mary’s role today: she celebrates their client’s successes, builds connections with professional partners in the area, and helps build a firm where project teams feel seen, supported, and encouraged—not just “handled” as another job.

That’s why Brian and Mary built Trust Engineering: to combine rigorous structural thinking with the kind of mentorship, freedom, and human connection his own mentors gave him—so every client feels both protected and smarter about the structures they’re responsible for.

Mary graduated from The Classical Academy, which she attended since its original establishment in 1997. An excellent experience with her 20th high school reunion began a desire to continue to network with other alumni for mutual growth and resources of the businesses that have risen since leaving TCA.

She has a strong personal connection and is involved with Family Life Services, and has previously owned a birth doula business where she assisted with 150 deliveries, as well as in a residential treatment center for teen girls. She enjoys attending local youth theater productions through CYT and STARZ.
